To ensure sustainability ofour WASH initiative,FGII conducted behaviour change awareness programmes in the school. These sensitization sessions included poster making, games and hand wash demo for the children. 22 FGII employees helped school children in these activities and distributed hand sanitizers to them.
The children were enthusiastic as they interacted with FGII employees and spent quality time with them. The aim of these sessions was to ensure that children understand the importance of proper utilization of sanitation structuresand to promotebenefits of hygiene practices among them.

Education is one of the most powerful weapons to break the shackles of poverty. It is the educated citizens who Today, fulfilling every child's right to water, sanitation and hygiene education remains a major challenge in the country.Despite the great strides made to safeguard the well-being of children in schools, a lot needs to be done to ensure access to sanitation facilities and adequate safe water forchildrenin schools.
Future Generali India Insurance (FGII)believes that education and health are inseparable. Disease such as diarrhea and worm infestations are all related to poor WASH facility and affects school participation and learning. WASH programme is therefore a first step towards ensuring a healthy physical learning environment whichfurther leads to increase in attendance and improved learning.
It is also a majorfactor to reduce dropout rate among girls. To ensure this, FGII undertook WASH initiative in a Zila Parishad school in Ghotsai village. This initiative directly benefitted 136 boys and 153 girls studying in the school. Under this project, the company constructedtoilet units, urinals and handwash facilities.Also, to ensure access to safe drinking water to the children, water filtration unitis installed in the school premises.
Lastly, as part of our continued intervention in the school, we have also contributed towards construction of terrace and donated computers for the school computer lab.
