Last-Minute Checklist for your Travel Preparations

31.8.2023 5 mins

Packing for a trip can be hectic. There is so much to do, so many things to care about, that slipping on a few things is understandable. Sometimes we think we have packed everything, but we end up leaving important things behind.

If you're gonna be on the road for a long time, it's important to avoid situations where we need something we don't have. Now, of course, you can't travel with everything on hand, but there are a few handy things that you should always have on you.

Here's a small checklist of travel essentials you can refer to.

1. Extra Cables and Chargers

No arguments that your mobile phone is the handiest thing. But what if you're out of battery?

To avoid that situation, you should always recheck all the charging cables and power banks. Try to keep a Universal plug with you as well. It's multipurpose and easily lets you connect your phone anywhere.

2. Toiletry Kit

Another helpful thing you can't miss. The key is to refill the kit after every trip and keep it in ready to go condition. Look into your bathroom shelf, make a list of essential things, and now create a duplicate of it in a smaller size.

If you travel frequently, then keep the kit stocked up every time. It'll save you lots of time and future trouble.

What does a Toiletry Kit include?

  . Shampoo

  . Toothbrush and Toothpaste

. Moisturiser sunscreen and any other needed makeup product.

  . Face wash

  . Razor

  . Deodorant

  . Vitamins and Probiotics

3. Passport and Credit Card

This includes everything you will need on your journey. Always do a cross-check for Passport and identification papers. Make sure you're carrying your Visa documents and a copy of your aeroplane tickets. Along with the original, keep a duplicate copy in your luggage as well. Another important thing is your Credit Card. Especially if you're travelling to some other country, you can look for overseas travel plans for helpful tips.

Helpful Tip- Make sure your Credit Card doesn't have a foreign currency charge. Many banks provide such schemes and also let you earn points.

4. Cash

Mostly everything is online these days. It's fast, and it's accessible and just hassle-free. But what about the places that still don't accept cards or any other mode of online payment? Keeping some cash can help you avoid such situations. Another helpful tip is to divide it between bags. Keep a small amount in every bag. It's important to remember that you can never be too careful when it comes to money.

5. Clothes

You must have packed everything you need, but doing a double check is important. When it comes to clothes, the saying is travel light, but travel right.

For example- Even if you're travelling to a hot place, keep one warm layer. A jacket, a pullover or anything. If you're travelling to somewhere cold, keep something for warmer days. Another important thing you can not forget is your underwear. Pack everything properly in a small bag or pouch, and it'll help to keep them separated from clothes, and make them easier to find as well.

Essential Clothing Items-

. Jacket- You can find one jacket that can nearly go along with all your outfits. You can wear it or not according to the weather, but it's still good to have one on hand.

. Comfortable shoes- Can't be stressed enough. You'll be travelling, and walking a lot. A pair of comfortable shoes is what will keep you going. You do not want blisters or shoe bites, so always pick the best and most comfortable pair you can find.

. Sunglasses and spectacles- A pair of sunglasses isn't a bad thing to keep in your pocket. When the sun is overhead, sunglasses can really be very much needed. The same goes for your spectacles or contact lens. Do not forget to pack anything related to your eyesight. You'll be going to a new place, and looking around to buy a new pair of glasses isn't the best way to spend time.

6. Camera Kit

If you're travelling with your camera, keep a separate kit for all the equipment. Starting with extra Cables, batteries and memory cards. It's not possible to explain the importance of extra batteries and memory cards, but getting short on one is the situation that's best to avoid. Get a travel voltage adapter as well with a universal multipurpose pin. If possible, then keep extensions as well. Make a list of other important equipment like camera gears and tripod, and run a working check before packing everything in.

7. First Aid Kit

This will include every medication and other small things like band-aids, pain relief spray/gel etc. If you're on medication, make sure to pack every medicine. Also, keep the prescription of that with you; many airport security checks ask for it. If you need it, keep your insulin pens handy as well.

Keep band-aids handy and easy to reach out. Keep sanitiser, clean wipes, insect repellent and anything you deem necessary.

8. Maps and Keys

As we mentioned, your smartphone is your buddy. But the network is a big issue. Make sure to download all your maps beforehand. Just to be on the safer side, It's also smart to keep a physical copy of directions. Before starting your trip, prepare a list of useful maps and local travelling guides.

Before leaving, cross-check for your house keys. After a long trip, the last thing you need is to get stuck out of your house. If possible, then leave one copy with some family member or a trusted friend.

A travel checklist can look a lot, but it's for your own comfort. As a traveller, you would want to have everything important on hand. Always make sure to double-check everything and enjoy your time. It's important to understand what you need and pack accordingly. Be sure to refer to Future Generali for more necessary travel-related guides.

Leaving too soon!
