Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) is the initiative of the National Health Authority (NHA). It is a health savings account launched under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). It is designed to provide financial assistance to the economically weaker section for their healthcare needs.
With the ABHA, citizens can store their medical and health records in a centralized account and access it through their unique ABHA ID.
The ABHA ID is a unique 14-digit identification number linked to the citizen's Aadhaar or mobile number. It helps them store and access all information digitally. This includes their health history, consultation details, medical records, and prescriptions.
The government plans to improve its health programs across different states through the ABHA ID. It also aims to connect hospitals across the country digitally.
However, applying for an ABHA ID is voluntary.
Follow these steps to apply for ABHA ID:
Visit the ABHA website and click on 'Create ABHA number'.
Select Aadhar/Driving License based on your preference and click 'Next.'
Enter your ID number and read the declaration carefully.
Select 'I Agree', enter the OTP and click on 'Submit."
