To create equal life opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds across India
The Human Safety Net is a movement that aims to help some of the most vulnerable communities around the world
Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited (FGII), the general insurance arm of the joint venture between retail giant Future Group and global insurer Generali, today announced the adoption of The Human Safety Net (THSN), a global CSR initaitive. THSN is based on the idea that communities of ‘people helping people’ can bring about sustainable change, creating a positive ripple effect.
Three programmes were established, inspired by ideas put forward by Generali employees, focusing on families. The programmes share a common purpose: to unlock the potential of disadvantaged people so they can transform their lives, that of their families and of their communities.
There are following programmes by THSN; which targets key social issues affecting communities where we live and work:
1. For Families- creating equal life opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds;
2. For Refugee Start-Ups - supporting refugee start-ups; and
3. For Newborns - saving newborns from the consequences of asphyxia
Out of the three THSN programmes – for families, for refugee start up and for newborns, India is pleased to adopt the ‘for family’ programme. The program, very relevant to this country, focusses on promoting equal-life chances for children who grow up in poverty.
Future Generali India kicked-off THSN through a workshop with a great support from the employees and top management from Generali & The Human Safety Net. In addition to the local CSR core team, over 40 local leaders and key representatives from different functions as well as representatives from the shortlisted NGOs were gathered together to brainstorm ideas and develop activities for THSN India’s engagement plan.
Mr. Yves Carbonnelle, Global Head of Engagement, The Human Safety Net - Group Generali and Mr. Patrick Hoffman, Programme Manager, The Human Safety Net - Group Generali conducted the kick-off workshop.
K.G Krishnamoorthy Rao, MD and CEO, Future Generali India Insurance Co. Ltd. “Poverty is one of the most widespread and persistent social problems in the world, especially in the developing countries. Hence, we at Future Generali are proud to be part of this global initiative. In association with a few NGOs we aim to help families build healthier, more stable family environments for their children, which in turn will give them a better chance at breaking the poverty cycle "
