Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited (FGII), a joint venture between Future Group - the game changers in Retail Trade in India and Generali – a 184 years old global insurance group featuring among the world’s 50 largest companies, today launched ‘Health Total’ – a comprehensive health insurance policy. This one-of-its kind cover, comes with multiple benefits, in one single policy. With the launch of ‘Health Total’ and other new products in future, the company is aiming for a 50% year on year growth in its retail health portfolio over the next three years.

K.G. Krishnamoorthy Rao, MD and CEO, Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited said, “With an inflation in healthcare cost of 15-16% every year, there is a growing need and awareness for health insurance covers. With the launch of Health Total and other new products in future coupled with strong distribution channels, we aim to create a deeper penetration of health insurance in the country. Though the sector has been growing at 20% over the last few years, we see a potential for much larger growth. We expect the health business to contribute 20% of our total business by FY 2017.”

The product is unique in many ways including the easy premium paying options. Our agents and brokers will play a major role in creating awareness for this product. Besides that, we would also look at new bank tie-ups as well as direct marketing channels to widen the reach of the product.”

The policyholders not only get hospitalisation cover, restoration benefit, 50% cumulative bonus for every claim free year but also OPD cover, vaccination expenses, treatment taken abroad for certain conditions, maternity cover with shorter waiting periods among others with Health Total as per the plan opted for. The product can be purchased even at the age of one day (cradle) to life long without any ‘age at entry restriction’. There is an option of Voluntary deductible through which the insured can avail of discounts in the premiums.

The cover is available for a minimum of one year to a maximum of three years. The policyholders can pay the premium up-front for long term policy for which a discounted rate will be charged to them. Alternatively the premium can also be paid in installments.


Mumbai, being the financial capital of the country, accounts for the largest market share of the general insurance sector. For Future Generali India Insurance, 28% of the total business comes from Mumbai. The company grew by 15% in H1 FY16 in this market (city) and is well positioned to scale up its portfolio in the second half of FY16.
