Campaign rolled out across 5 colleges in Sikkim
Sikkim; April 08, 2024: Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited (FGII), one of India's leading private general insurance players, launched an insurance awareness campaign for college going youth in Sikkim. The primary aim of the initiative was to create awareness and educate the youth on the importance of insurance in securing the future and to achieve financial independence. Furthermore, it also aimed to shed light on insurance as a prospective career option.
Through the insurance awareness campaign – ‘INSURANCE: LIKE A TRUSTED FRIEND, THERE FOR YOU WHEN YOU NEED IT’ – the company is hopeful of fostering better understanding of insurance products among the youth, who are increasingly taking an active role in influencing their family’s financial choices and decisions.
The objective of this program is to generate awareness and understanding among youth about insurance products and services thereby enabling them to take informed decisions with respect to securing their future, once they are independent.
The awareness campaign conducted a host of activities aimed at providing a holistic view of insurance and its growing importance in today’s times to achieve financial security. The campaign, which started on March 18, remained active for a week, covering 5 different colleges in Gangtok.
As a part of the campaign, students were not only appraised about the importance of insurance, but they were also encouraged to participate in engaging activities such as essay writing and elocution competitions focusing on insurance-related topics. These activities were aimed at deepening their understanding of the campaign's impact.
The campaign covered 5 colleges including SRM University, Sikkim Manipal University, Harkamaya College of Education, Damber Singh College and Nar Bahadur Bhandari College.
Commenting on the insurance awareness program, Ruchika Malhan Varma, Chief Marketing Officer, Future Generali India Insurance Co. Ltd. said, "India stands at the forefront with its extensive population of young individuals, ranking among the highest across major economies. This demographic dividend presents an extraordinary opportunity as today's youth wield significant influence in shaping their family's financial landscape. Hence, we feel it is very important to empower them with the right knowledge. Our aim is to equip and instil within them the significance of insurance so as to help prepare them to achieve financial independence. At Future Generali, we remain committed to delivering accessible, affordable, and inclusive products to both Bharat and India, fostering a secure future for all."
North-East India, including Sikkim, offers a large untapped potential for general insurance in India. The insurance awareness program in Sikkim aligns with FGII's broader strategy of increasing insurance penetration across India. The company has been at the forefront of creating awareness about insurance and has launched several programs and initiatives across the country to achieve this objective.
