What is the scale of coverage provided by the ESIS?
As per Section 58 (1 & 3) of the ESI Act and the State Medical Benefit Rules, the State Government shall regulate the medical benefits to be granted to insured persons and members of their families.
It is not within the purview of an insured person or a member of their family to obtain medical services. The recipients are entitled to affordable obstetric, surgical, and medical care.
For Insured Persons (IPs), the following treatments are available at the ESI Dispensary, Hospital, or Diagnostic Centre, as well as other approved facilities affiliated with the employee state insurance fund:
· Outpatient care
· Visiting them at home to provide domiciliary treatment.
· Consultation with experts
· Hospitalisation (in-patient care)
· Free distribution of medications, bandages, prosthetic limbs, appliances, and assistance.
· laboratory and imaging services
· Vaccination and MCH programmes, integrated family welfare, and other national health initiatives, etc
· Ambulance service or reimbursement for transportation costs to medical facilities, diagnostic centres, etc
· Special provisions and medical certification

What is the current rate of the Employee Insurance Scheme?
What is ESI current rate? Well, the employer and employee contributions at a predetermined rate will make up the contribution that is due to the Corporation on behalf of an employee. There are periodic revisions to the rates.
As of July 1, 2019, the employer's contribution rate is 3.25% of earnings paid or payable for each employee during a pay period, while the employee's contribution rate is 0.75% of wages. Workers are excused from contributing if they receive an average daily wage of up to Rs. 176. However, employers will make their contributions to these workers.
The contributions to the employee insurance scheme must be paid to the Corporation at the rates mentioned above within 15 days of the end of the calendar month in which they are due.
